Explanations

Name of the church community
Christelijk Centrum Groningen, also known as Christian Church Groningen (hereinafter: CCG), is a faith community where Jesus is central. Jesus claimed to be God, which is why he was killed. At CCG, we take Jesus at his word. That he is God and has conquered death. That is why everything revolves around him. We invite you to get to know this Jesus. He wants to forgive you and give you new life in him.

While this church is fully independent, it is affiliated with the international family of churches Relational Mission, part of New Frontiers.

Board and Staff/Volunteers
The church's governance rests with the team of elders. The statutes stipulate that all elders are also board members. The leading elder is also the chair of the board, and the treasurer and secretary are formally designated. The other elders are general board members.

The board is also responsible for managing financial resources and assets. In practice, it is assisted by various teams that, however, have no formal authority: these are all vested in the team of elders. The statutes stipulate that an audit committee (not consisting of board members) takes a random sample of the financial records each year to assess their accuracy. Based on this sample, they propose or reject the treasurer's discharge after the end of the relevant financial year. The board makes the final decision in accordance with the above. The conclusion is retained in the financial records.

The Church Society employs one full-time employee (32 hours) and one part-time employee (16 hours). They both receive a gross contribution but are not formally employed. In addition, around 160 members are regularly deployed in activities related to the objectives.

Mission/Vision
This is stated in the bylaws as follows:

The church aims to bring people to Jesus and His Family, in obedience to God's infallible Word: "the Bible," through the power of the Holy Spirit. In this way, they will attain spiritual maturity and learn to magnify His Name. They will also be equipped to serve and proclaim His Kingdom in the world.

Policy Plan
Our policy plan consists of several dynamic components, with the following main structure:
6.1 Restoration of a Biblical Church.
This entails laying a solid, biblically sound foundation upon which the church is built and exercising the "fivefold ministry" from Ephesians 4.
Restoring the place of worship in the church; just as the temple was the place of worship in the Old Covenant, it is now occupied by the church (John 4:23-24).
A safe place for believers and (brought along) unbelievers, where the Word of God is preached and prayers are offered for healing from spiritual, emotional, and physical ailments. A place where believers can express their joy in and love for the Lord. And a place where people can develop a relationship with God and with each other.
6.2 Making Disciples.
Through evangelism, friendships, and relieving needs, we connect people with Jesus and make them His disciples. This is more than just being saved. It also entails education for maturity, discovering and encouraging gifts and talents, and a Body in which all members function and care for one another (1 Cor. 12:25).
6.3 Training Leaders.
Actively working to train church members, young and old, as leaders. This means education focused on caring for one another, evangelism, leading departments, missional communities, and church planting. In a well-functioning and growing church, many leaders are needed who must be equipped for their task in the church (2 Tim. 2:2).
6.4 Planting New Churches
In principle, there should be a vibrant church within walking distance of everyone in every town. Local churches can have a significant impact on their surroundings. Jesus commanded us to make disciples. Planting as many churches as possible is important and should be a high priority within the church. This requires the release of ministries, as in Acts 13, and the commitment of many believers in the form of intercession, evangelism, help, and the like.
6.5 Going Out into the World
A church must have more than just a "local" vision. A global church vision is important for the proclamation "to all nations." This means collaborating with other churches (regional, national, and international), sending out and supporting church planters, and consciously choosing not to be isolated as an independent church.
6.6 Care for Society
The church is a place of "care" for both its own members and those "outside." The Bible teaches care for the poor, widows and orphans, and foreigners. Social programs, such as food aid or emergency shelter, are just as much a task of the church as spiritual offerings in the form of evangelism, Bible distribution, and missions.
Remuneration Policy and Income
The remuneration of paid senior staff is based on the scale used in education. However, this does not follow the principle of salary increases for good performance, but only compensation for higher living expenses due to inflation. This helps ensure that the church's material resources can be used as widely as possible for its objectives.
All other church employees do not receive compensation for their work; only expenses incurred can be reimbursed.
The necessary funds are largely raised by the members, and there is also a modest rental fee to organizations linked to the Church's policy. The building is also made available for a small fee for community-oriented activities, such as social consultation hours and as a polling station.

Report on Activities Performed
Much of the communication with members is done electronically. For example, there is a monthly email with short messages about church affairs, anniversaries, and activities in the church community in which we are (or want to be) involved, in line with the vision. We also regularly exchange ideas with church members during specially organized meetings. A few times a year, these are formal meetings regarding financial matters, as stipulated in the bylaws. We also actively use the website, which has a private section for members.

Brief overview of planned expenditures
Our expected expenditures (budget) closely match the accounts for previous years. Local church work shows a reasonable degree of continuity, although there are occasional priorities that are communicated to the church. These priorities are determined by the elders, with input from the various departments helping in this process. These priorities are also reflected in the financial statements and budget.
