There's much to be said about the church. The Bible speaks volumes about it, and history has been largely shaped by it. At its core, the church is a people, a family of God. People like you and me who, through Jesus, receive a new life with a new identity and purpose. People who were once not a people are now brought together to make God's wonderful works visible in the world. The church consists of ordinary people saved by Jesus, who live and share salvation together.
You have been chosen by God, and you belong to him. Now you are a holy nation, a people of priests. God has called you out of darkness to live in his glorious light. Now you can tell everyone about the great wonders of God. Once you were not even a people. Now you are God's people. Once there was no one to care for you. Now God cares for you. (1 Peter 2:9-10)
